Fall 2026 sees Marshall join the new Rio-Pacific Conference, the merger between the old Pacific and Rio Hondo Leagues with the addition of Marshall and Gabrielino. The new conference is divided into 3 subdivisions, the Arroyo, Boulder, and Crest Leagues.
Coach Fred Nash of the Marshall Varsity Girls Volleyball team has led the team to an impressive 15-5 start to the season with a number of dominant wins. With the team only losing 14 sets through 20 games. However, their Boulder League record currently stands at 1-3 with their victory coming at home against Monrovia.
Outside hitter Livsey Teems (Sr) has been a star for this team leading in total kills with 69. Another standout star for this team is setter Ashley Dominguez (Sr) with 204 total assists.
The Marshall Varsity Cross Country team has also been performing at a high level to begin their season. Most recently they secured a win over rival Arroyo at the 45th Annual Woodbridge Cross Country Classic. The Woodbridge Cross Country Classic is the biggest high school race in the world. Because of how well the Marshall XC team did there, they are now ranked #10 in state. Varsity Captain Garret Sparks (Sr) has lofty personal goals for this season.
“My goal for my last season is to beat Nate Nicolletti’s time,” Sparks said.
Nicolletti is currently the fastest runner in Marshall XC history with a 3 mile PR of 15:27.2. However at Woodbridge, Sparks achieved a PR of 15:51.8. With a lot of season left, we shall see if Sparks can make Marshall history in the 2026 Season.
Marshall Girls Tennis dominated the old Mission Valley League. They placed 1st in league during the 24’ and 25’ seasons and won Division 5 CIF in 24’. However, come 2026 they have lost 8 of their players from the previous season. As such, this year is shaping up to be a test for the team as they struggle adjusting to the new Boulder League.
The Marshall Girls Golf season is underway. However, due to the realignment, scoring has been challenging. Currently, Marshall golfers have been limited in qualifications due to the large number of qualifiers from other schools in the conference. This is a challenge that Coach Ivan Harris has admitted was difficult.
“We are focusing on getting the girls to learn the etiquette and fundamentals of the game. We want them to grow and like the game,” Harris said. “We want them to have fun, improve their golf skills, and just grow the game.”
